microbiology Indus Clinical Laboratories

Clinical Microbiology lab of Indus Clinical Laboratories (Indus Lab) deals with the isolation and identification of microorganisms (bacteria and fungi) from specimens like blood, urine, wound swabs, faeces, respiratory secretions and other body fluids e.g. cerebrospinal fluid. Isolates of clinical importance are identified and, if appropriate, tested for susceptibility to antibiotics and antifungal drugs.

Antimicrobial susceptibility testing is performed as per specific guidelines by expert technologists. Direct microscopy is also carried out on specimens to examine CSF for bacteria, faeces for parasites, and urine for cells and crystals. Different disciplines of microbiology like bacteriology, serology, mycology and parasitology are covered in this section.

Our lab is furnished with state-of-the-art equipments like Bactec9120, Cobas u 411, Automated media prep for Routine and special procedures in BSL II facility.

Mycobacteriology

This section has a state-of-the-art, Biosafety Level III Facility

We are using fully automated system for TB Culture, identification and sensitivity testing in addition to manual culture technique to enhance testing proficiency and to decrease turnaround time.

Genotyping of Mycobacterium species is also carried out in this sphere.

For proper disposal of Infectious Material, our lab is equipped with double door (pass-through) autoclave for the first time in Pakistan which is the latest innovation in sterilization process.
